Optilight Testimonial

Patient presented to us a year ago with dry eyes and a diagnosis of scleroderma, an inflammatory autoimmune disease that affects the skin and other organs. She had moderate to severe dry eye disease as a result with meibomian gland dysfunction and lubricating eye drops were not working for her. Over the past year, we were able to heal her cornea with amniotic tissue placement and treat the inflammation in and around her face and eyes with the Optilight. She just returned for a six-month maintenance treatment and dry eye symptoms remain resolved or at a minimum.

Discovering The Cause

At Peters Family Eyecare, our focus is on isolating the underlying cause behind your dry eye symptoms. In many cases, dry eye is caused by inflammation or meibomian gland dysfunction.

Inflammation occurs when your eyes become irritated or infected, while meibomian gland dysfunction occurs when the glands in your eyelids that produce the oily layer of your tears become blocked.

Through meibography, tear osmolarity analysis, and other diagnostic tests, we can determine the best course of action to bring you long-term relief from your dry eye symptoms. Unlike other practices, we don’t just treat the symptoms of dry eye – we address the root cause to provide a lasting solution.
